The Current Situation in the United Kingdom
According to the Sexual Offences Act 2003, a sex worker is ‘a person who on at least one occasion and whether or not compelled to do so, offers or provides sexual services to another person in return for payment or a promise of payment to A or a third person’.[1] It is hard to estimate an adequate number of sex workers in England and Wales as it is largely a hidden population,[2] and some sex workers do not identify themselves as such, especially when the services they provide are occasional or an escort work.[3]

The world of international arbitration remains dominated by a relatively homogenous group of white men. Whilst research has increasingly highlighted the importance of diverse tribunals and arbiters due to the improvement in decision-making and perceived legitimacy,[1] data collected by the Cross-Institutional Task Force on Gender Diversity in Arbitral Appointments and Proceedings (the ‘Task Force’) highlights a stark underrepresentation of women within international arbitration.[2]
